Before you pay the shop

Got an expensive repair estimate?

Your mechanic says your car needs $2,000 in repairs? Before spending that money, see what your vehicle could be worth as-is.

  • Snap a photo of the quote. Add it in step 2 of the form. A PDF works too.
  • Get a real number. I'll look at what the car needs and send you an offer.
  • Then decide. Fix it, keep it, or sell it. It's your call.
Repair estimateExample
Front brake pads & rotors$640
Catalytic converter$1,450
O2 sensor$285
Labor$380
Total$2,755

Example only. Not a real customer's estimate.

What I buy

Needs a little work? That's my thing.

Most cars I buy run and drive fine. They just need something the owner doesn't want to deal with or pay a shop for.

  • Check engine lightCodes, sensors, warning lights

  • Brakes & tiresGrinding, worn down, or bald
  • Dents & rustScraped bumpers, door dings, surface rust

Questions

Good to know.

What kind of cars do you buy?

Running cars, SUVs, trucks, and vans that need some work: check engine lights, failed inspections, brakes, tires, dents, rust, AC, glass, or overdue maintenance. Cars that don't run, or need an engine or transmission, usually aren't a fit.

Am I obligated to sell if I fill this out?

No. Filling out the form just gets you an offer. You can say no at any point before the title is signed.

Are you going to lowball me?

No. My offers are based on what cars like yours really sell for around here. You get a fair, straight number. If it doesn't work for you, no hard feelings.

Should I fix it before I sell?

Usually not. You'd pay full shop prices, and the repair often doesn't add that much to what the car sells for. Send me the estimate first and compare.

Why not trade it in?

Trade-in offers are often tied to buying a car from that dealer, and repairs usually get taken off at shop prices. You don't have to buy anything from me. If your trade-in is the better deal, I'll say so.

How fast can this happen?

I review every request myself and reply as soon as I can, usually the same day. If you say yes, we can usually meet within a few days.

How do I get paid?

When the title is signed. Pennsylvania requires a notary for that, so we meet at a local tag and notary office and finish the payment and paperwork there.

Do I need a title?

Yes. It has to be in your name, with a photo ID that matches.

Any fees?

None. The offer I give you is what you get paid.

What happens to my information?

I only use it to look at your car and contact you about it. I don't sell it. The privacy policy has the details.
